2013 Video Competition Winner
Mary Greeley Medical Center
Facing metastatic breast cancer, Jessica Clem decided to have a party. She dubbed it a "fun-eral." "This was going to be the last hurrah," she said. "I don’t want people to remember me as the woman in the hospital bed. I’ve never been that way. I want life to be fun." Jessica inspired our Pink Glove Dance video. We knew we wanted to feature a patient who’s as upbeat and positive as Jessica was. We found one in Gretchen Zitterich. We knew we wanted to feature Mary Greeley Medical Center and McFarland Clinic staff. Doctors and nurses responded enthusiastically. We knew we wanted people from our community, including students from Iowa State University. They came out in droves, including Iowa State’s Cyclone football players. They all donned pink gloves and danced to One Direction’s "Beautiful." They danced because, as Jessica and Gretchen have taught us, life is beautiful.
